Gone are the days of hitting the road for vacation only to have the thought “Oh no! Did I leave the lights on?” or “Did I leave the A/C on?” These days, you can put an end to having that fear in the back of your mind the entire time, whether you’re heading out of town or just to the office. With the increase of technology comes the perk of allowing you to check on and control your home from your smartphone.
One of the more popular techy gadgets we are installing these days is the Nest Hello doorbell. This device replaces your old school doorbell fairly simply (*see our Pro Tip Warning at the end of this post) and has the capability for the homeowner to remotely view the visitor on the doorstep. Link the Nest Hello to the Google Home Mini and the audio device will even announce when someone is at the door.
You can take it to the next level and integrate with the Nest × Yale Lock so that you can not only see who’s at your front door from your phone, but also unlock it to let your visitor in if need be.
If you wanted to go gangbusters, you could also add the Nest IQ indoor or outdoor cameras to be able to monitor the entire perimeter of your house while you’re away – or home, for that matter.
If this information whets your appetite for a smarter high-tech home, we have just the thing for you. Santa Barbara Sparky is having a Nest Giveaway contest – starting today! Click here to see the rules and different ways to get more entries. Don’t delay, because the contest ends on February 8, 2019. Enter now!
*Pro Tip Warning: in order to upgrade to a Nest Hello from an old doorbell, you may need to add a transformer for the Nest to work.
