I’m not sure about you, but I (Courtney) am a big fan of the honey-do list. Jeb and I have used one in one form or another since we got married 14 years ago. Recently, I trolled Pinterest until I found one that some what fit what I wanted. It was cute , but too wide and wasted a lot of paper, so I made one that fit perfectly for what I needed.
What are the benefits of the honey-do list ?
1) No more forgetting! Having a list centrally located in the house or office is great because when something comes to mind, you or your spouse can write it on the list and then not worry that it will be forgotten. My list is in the office on a white board, while Jeb’s list is in the kitchen on the fridge.
2) Keeps you accountable. There’s something about having a list of things to do that holds you accountable, especially if it’s in a high traffic area. You see it when you go to the fridge, or when you walk in the office, so that when you have time in your day to get one or two of the tasks accomplished, you can take care of it.
3) It minimizes nagging. This is my absolute favorite part! I don’t think anybody likes to be the nagger much less the one being nagged, but sometimes you wind up on either side of the nagging equation. I really like putting down my items on the list and then letting the list take care of the nagging. I know for me there have been some items that Jeb has put on my list to do and the list is the one staring at me day to day telling me, “You need to do this!” Not him, and visa versa.
4) It feels great to get items checked off the list. This is why I like to have lists with check boxes; there is such a sense of accomplishment when you check that the item is complete! I have noticed that many times, multiple items get taken care of at the same time, which is an even better feeling to accomplish so much at once!
